Licking Beaters for the First Time

Yesterday I made mashed potatoes (with cauliflower hidden in them...shhhh) and I decided to let the boys lick the beaters. This was a first for Hooper and he LOVED it!
I promise William does smile at our house...just not when the camera is around.

He's saying "cheese" here...while showing me the beater he's so proud of.

I made them sit down to eat but Hoop kept wanting to get up. So this is his protest sitting position.
He had a blow out earlier so he's just in a diaper. I can't remember why I didn't put more pants on him...ugh pregnancy brain!

I love those Big Blue EYES!!!
This boy went to town. Yummy!

Yes I know I posted 14 pictures of the same thing...Hooper licking a beater, but I just can't help myself. Believe it or not I took way more than 14, these were just the cutest. I'm in awe of these bloggers that can just post 1 picture of an event.

Milestones

Last night we had two major milestones with Hooper. First, we went to Costco after dinner and were gone about an hour maybe 1 1/2 hr and when we got home Hooper still had a dry diaper. It was bath time so I undressed him and went to the bathroom to get his "bubbles" started. The little naked jay bird backed up to his potty, sat down on it and just about filled it up! I was so surprised that I started yelling for Dee, which scared Hooper. Anyhow he did it...and all by himself! We are so proud!

The next milestone is the sweetest! Every night Dee gets Hooper ready for bed in his PJ's, then hands him to me and we sit in the rocker while Dee sits on the ottoman, we hold hands and we say our prayers. Well last night Dee had put Hooper in Dee's favorite PJ's, his Mickey Mouse jammies (I'll post photos later) and Dee said "oh I won't get to see him running around in his Mickey's, and he's just so cute, do you mind if he just runs around for a minute so I can watch him?" Of course I agreed. So Hooper was running around playing in his room then tried to dart out of his door. Dee called him back and told him it was bed time and to come back in that we needed to say our prayers. Much to our surprise Hooper walked to the ottoman, got on his knees, laid his hands flat on top of one another and laid his forehead on them. Dee and I looked at each other in amazement and Dee said "well I guess this is how we're going to pray tonight." So Dee and I joined Hooper on our knees by the ottoman, Dee began to pray and Hooper kept his head bowed the entire prayer. Now mind you, we have NEVER prayed like this and Hooper has NEVER seen it done, so we have NO idea where he got it...other than God. It just sent chills through both Dee and me. My little prayer warrior! I'm such a proud Mommy!

Froggy Potty

Lately Hooper has been telling us when he's gone "poo poo" and when he also points to his "tee tee" diapers in the mornings and tells us about them too. So we thought we'd get a potty and just see what he does. Well at first he wasn't too sure about it, but night before last when I was running his "bubbles" he started saying "tee tee" and trying to sit on his potty full dressed. We took his bottoms off and he sat down and actually tinkled a few drops. We're so excited. We are not pushing the issue but just letting him go at his own speed. Here are some shots (non-revealing) of his 2nd time on the potty, last night. We were too excited and unprepared to catch the first time, sorry!
Is this the cutest potty ever? I wish they made them for grown ups! I sure could use one beside our bed lately for the million trips to the bathroom all night, ha!

Hooper's new NON-girly kitchen

As much as Hooper LOVES to help me in the kitchen I thought he'd enjoy a kitchen of his own. But I wasn't sure how I was going to convince Dee of this. Well as luck would have it, this past weekend we were at Wal-Mart and they had them marked down from $45 to $20! So with a little convincing I finally got Dee to agree to it. I initially said we could put it up for his birthday (in July) but the more we walked around the store with it, Dee said "I'm not having my son unwrap a kitchen at his birthday party...this can just be a present just because." With that said the kitchen was given to Hooper just for being a good boy that night.
Here's the nice friendly picture of our kitchen:And here's what it looked like when we took it out. Now we know why it was marked down, ha!A million pieces is an understatement!!
As if Dee wasn't thrilled enough with the kitchen now he gets to assemble this mess!
But with help from me and especially Hooper things got moving.

This boy is just like is Daddy and Papaw! Loves, loves, loves tools and building things!

Using his spatula to pick up the trash.
So serious!
It's coming together nicely. Have I ever mentioned how glad I am that I married an engineer? It takes one to put together kids toys!
Oh Hooper's getting even more excited now!
Look how pretty and non-pink his kitchen is. That was the one requirement from Dee. He said if it was pink at all it was going back!
Thanks Honey! Hooper and I love you!!!!

Hooper and Papa's restroom conversation

This is a first, I think. A post with no pictures. But I just have to tell this story, it's too funny.

As I mentioned in my last post, my parents came to town last week and one night we had dinner at Pappadeaux with them. At the end of the meal, as all girls do, Mom and I went to the restroom together. Here's Hooper and Papa's conversation after we left:

Hooper: "Nana?"
Papa: "Nana went to the restroom."
Hooper: "Nana?"
Papa: "Yes, Nana went to the restroom but she'll be right back."
Hooper: "Poo poo?"

I don't know what or even IF Papa responded due to him laughing so uncontrollably! Hey at least Hooper's got down that you go poo poo in the restroom, ha! And yes it was loud enough where I think everyone around heard this converation. Kids! Gotta love 'em!!!

Catch up on random Hooper stuff......

This blog takes randomness to a whole new level. Nothing majorly exciting has happened that I caught on camera so here's just some cute pictures taken over the past week or so. Oh wait we did have a major event happen this week but no pictures were taken. Tuesday I went grocery shopping with the boys and had William in the sitting portion of the cart and Hooper was in the back part where you put the groceries. This particular cart had a very short "wall" around it's parameters so I sat Hooper down instead of letting him stand. I had put some boxes of rice in the cart and Hooper thought they were fun to play with, no big deal right? Well I don't know if he stood up and leaned back or what happened but the next thing I knew I heard a big "clunk" and he was flat on his back on the hard floor. Without even thinking I grabbed him up, his eyes were rolling back in his head and he was limp as a wet noodle. (I now know NOT to move a possible head/neck/spine injured person) He didn't cry for a minute or two but then the whailing started. He fell flat on his back/head and it scared me to death. So I immedately RUSHED him to the Children's Hospital ER in Plano (just down the street thankfully) fearing head injury. They did a CT scan and everything was fine, THANK GOD!!! He has some bruising on his spine (just the skin portion, the actual spine is ok) but that was it. He didn't even have a bump pop up on his head or anything. Kids are so resilient..no wait...God is so GOOD!!! So even though I had no pictures of this I still had to post it. I hope Hooper NEVER has to go to the ER again!! It scared me to death!
Ok back on a happy note.........
*
Ike, the dog, is still a favorite on any given day. He decided to ride him here. I guess he's preparing to be a rodeo rider...Oh please God NO!!
Love the dimple...
This is how old this picture is, he's still playing with the Valentine balloon (or "boon" as he says).
Love this shot of him watching TV while eating. He has totally tuned me out.
He wanted to be covered up as he played with his toys.
For some reason he had a fascination with a wash cloth ON HIS HEAD this day. This went on for ever..me putting it on his head, him taking it off. Over and over and over.
And yes, let's not forget the toothbrush fascination that's still going on. We went to dinner with my parents last night and at the table he HAD to bring his toothbrush and a paint brush. This kid and his "mop mops."
One last one with William. I bought these baskets with hopes of organizing my deep freezer outside. Well the boys decided they were way more fun to play in.

Fun Playing Outside

These photos were taken a couple weeks ago when Papa came over to babysit us. I'm slowly but surely getting caught up.
The boys LOVE going outside to play, especially when Nana and Papa are here. They are their own personal play toys! Here's just some cute shots. Mind you it was just a little chilly on this day.
Hooper found another airplane.
And yes that IS a tape measure he is playing with.
Now he's conned Papa into playing with it.
He really wants it extended to it's FULLEST!

Mr. Hoodster
Look how sweet this little guy is! He's so precious!
For those of you who have not kept up with the blog, this is William, the little boy I keep during the week or should I say "Hooper's best friend!"

Helping Daddy build his big boy bed.

As I've mentioned before, Dee is building Hooper's "big boy bed" and is doing a GREAT job. Hooper insists on helping him every step of the way too. I guess he wants to make sure it's built exactly like he wants, ha. Here's some photos taken approx. 3 weeks ago of one of their "work days." The bed is much further along now. I'm so glad I married a such a brilliant man!
Hooper playing in the bed frame.
He is VERY GOOD with the screw driver. He actually hits the hole every time!

Like father like son!
Testing the new mattress out to make sure it's soft enough. I'm not sure what to make out of the expressionless face though.
At this point Dee had just put the base coat on the helment.
It now has the detail work almost complete. I'll post updated photos later.
And the football is about ready to go too.
I think it's so sweet that Dee's building Hooper's first Big Boy bed.
This is one blessed little boy to have a Dad like Dee!
