A Look Back at January 2008

Thankfully January has been pretty much uneventful as far as travel goes. But with Hooper life is never uneventful, it's full of fun no matter what the day holds. He is really trying to get mobile now. Although he cannot figure the whole crawling thing out totally, if you put him on all fours he stays for a long time, wabbling until he splats. Thankfully he does not cry when he lands! Also new for this month...he has 2 more teeth. Yes his top two are now cut. You cannot see them in pictures yet but they are definitely there.

Yesterday I sat him down at what use to be referred to as his "kick toy" but now he sits at it and plays with his hands, not his feet. Anyhow as soon as I sat him down he turned to me as seen below with this huge smile like he was saying "thanks Mom, this is just what I wanted!" Also yesterday I played beauty shop with his daddy's hair gel. Check out his new mohawk. Believe it or not Dee did not like it one bit. Hmmmm, I think he looks quiet cute. He may have to try it out on all the ladies in nursery on Sunday, ha.

If you haven't been around Hooper much lately the face he's making is his "oooohhhhh" sound. He does this over and over and it is hilarious! It has become a language of it's own in our house.
He's trying to pull up on everything. He hasn't figured it out completely yet, but he can get to his knees and sits on them for a while.
When Dee and I work on the computer Hooper loves to bang on the keyboard. So finally Dee told me where he had an old one stashed. How many 6 month olds have their own key boards....and love to play with it! He is his father made over.

While we were in TN we updated Hooper's waredrobe with some new UT clothing. Actually we planned on doing this while we were there but the way it turned out, it was a necessity and not a planned event. We were on our way to Nashville on day and Hooper had a massive blow out in his clothes. Thankfully we were at Target. We had to buy new everything...down to new socks. ewwww! But look how cute his new jogging suit is! I think he planned on the blow out just to get new duds!
We're trying our hardest to teach the little man to crawl. Not until I saw Dee do this did I realize I had been teaching Hooper incorrectly. My hands and feet were moving at the wrong times. No wonder why he's not crawling yet!
Hooper's newest fascination is paper. We cannot read anything without him grabbing it...and of course it goes straight to his mouth. He gets his paper eating from his Aut! Aut used to eat paper as a boy to make himself sick so he wouldn't have to go to school. I pray Hooper's fetish does not go that far!
Two weeks ago Hooper and I went to Blossom to visit his Aut and Sue-Sue while Dee went to Tucson. I think Hooper has their complete attention, don't you?
I think this is the "please Mom, no more pictures" look.
No trip to Blossom would be complete without seeing Ma. Since Hooper loves to look outside Aut made it a priority to let him see out as much as possible. I think I'm in trouble once it warms up.This is a blurry photo, but if you could just have been there when it was taken you'd know how precious it is. Hooper was in a cranky mood this day but we had to get a picture of him in his new styling hat. So Aut would run him around the kitchen to get him to smile and suddenly stop in front of me so I could hurridly grab a shot. It took several times but we finally got this. Poor Aut, he was definitely out of breath by the end of this photo shoot!
Another first this month is diaper rash. The doctor told us to make sure it was aired out as much as possible, so here we are "airing out the tushy!"
Just another photo of Hooper lovin' on Gibson. I'm so proud of Gibson for the patience and love he has for Hooper. What an answer to prayer!!!!
Look at Gibson's leg over Hooper's. Too cute! Check out those big ol' eyes! Better to see you with!

Also new is the discovery of his new toy...his feet. Who doesn't take a bath like this?
And let's not forget about swinging with your feet up too!
Dee's been teaching Hooper how to drink from a glass. Forget the sippy cut or straw, let's get down to some serious glass work! Everytime Dee took it away Hooper kept leaning forward for more. He really did good. Much better than he's been doing with his straw cup.
For Christmas his Great Aunt Connie Kay and Great Uncle John John gave him this John Deere teether that's the shape of an ear of corn. When he bites down on it it vibrates. Oh how it feels good to those sore gums when he's teething. He loves it!
And let's not forget how cute it is too! Everyone should have an ear of corn to chew on!

Earlier this week Hooper was refusing to take a nap, so I decided to just let him play in his crib. When I came back in to check on him this is what I found. He really looks sleepy doesn't he?
So like any good Mother, I decided to try and put the dog in bed with him. Actually Gibson was just so curious about what was going on "in there" that I couldn't resist letting him check things out. Hooper really wasn't sure about sharing his bed with Gibson. He's been battling his first ear infection too this week and with it came some head congestion. For his nap I thought maybe my pillow would help him out. You know it smells like me and it elevated his head a bit. Not sure if it made a difference or not. But I was trying anything at this point. Finally sleep. Sweet sleep! Don't freak out about him having a blanket, stuffed animal and pillow in his crib. I had his motion detector on the whole time and checked on him continuously. Gibson thought he'd take a nap too since Hooper was. A dog must sleep when his boy does.
A little more sleep going on here. Father and son. Boy do they like to snuggle!Final picture......he's off to dream land as we all are here in the Harris house. Good night and God bless!
